object type: Earthenware, tin-glazed, and painted in cobalt-blue and copper lustre. Circular with flat rim, vertical sides, and flat central area. In the centre there is a heater-shaped shield bearing the arms per fesse azure and or a lion rampant countercharged within a blue spirally-entwined circle, from which eight curling sprays of bryony flowers and parsley-like leaves radiate towards another spirally entwined circle. The sides are decorated in lustre only, and the rim in blue and lustre with scrolling and wavying sprays of similar flowers and leaves. The back is decorated in lustre only with a central six-petalled flower surrounded by circlets and dots
