  <description>
    <value>fritware, mould made, painted in blue, red, green and black under a transparent white glaze.
Shape: carinated, hexagonal body with collared neck and bead rim; sits on a disc base with concave underside. Topped by a flattened dome lid, held onto the body by a pewter hinge, connected to a strap handle that is joined to the neck and body of the vessel.
Exterior: On the lid and body four red palmettes are joined to form a quatrefoil, each filled with a blue and green arabesque. On the edge of the lid these palmettes are enclosed by a narrow band of reverse &#x2018;S&#x2019; shapes. On the neck a frieze of scrolling turquoise and red leaves are adorned with blue or red flowers, painted below a band of white and red &#xE7;intimani are reserved in blue. Glaze covers the surface except for the edge of the base.
Interior: glaze covers the surface unevenly, pitted on the lower body.</value>
