The figure and horse are covered in a white slip with traces of blue, blue green, red and black paint. The horseman, who is not Chinese (possibly Persian or Central Asian), wears a multi coloured, cold weather hat. He carriers an unidentifiable object (lacquer box or stupa?) in his left hand, and holds his right hand upwards towards his chest, is if pulling on missing reins.
