The young apple wife sits on a brown stool with her right leg advanced, and rests her right forearm on a wooden barrel filled with red and yellow apples. She turns her head to her left and holds out an apple in her left hand. She wears a green hat with a purple ribbon round the crown, and red zig-zags under the brim; a pale purple neckerchief, a white chemise with elbow-length sleeves, a red bodice, green skirt; white apron scattered with purple flowerheads, and black shoes.
