    <value>hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels and gilt</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and painted over glaze in yellowish-green, ruddy flesh pink, pale mauve, red, brown and balck enamels, and gilt. The flat underside is unglazed and has a ventilation hole below the support. The low rocky rectangular base rises up at the back into a heap of rocks which support the figure. The top is strewn with applied leaves and flowers, two yellow and four pale mauve. The miner stands on his left leg and steps forward on his right. His body is tilted back and to his right, and he holds a triangle in his left hand and a baton to strike it in his left. He has a ruddy complexion and black curling hair, partly covered by a green pill box hat with a gold top edge, gold crossed pick axes on the front, and a yellow rosette on its left side. He wears a white short coat with a pleated frill, gold buttons down the front and on the sleeves, and red and gold epaulettes, a red waistcoat, white breeches and stockings, and black knee caps, and shoes with gold buckles. Behind him he has a long curved black apron with a brown leather lining, secured at the front by a black pouch.</value>
