  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Hard-paste porcelain painted in pale blue (a little) bright green, dark green, yellow, red, purple, brown, grey, and black enamels and gilt. The cup has curved sides and stands on a footring. The circular saucer has shallow curved sides and stands on a footring. The exteror of the cup is decorated with a continuous landscape in which there is a stockade beside a tent, a church and distant hills. On one side there are three mounted soldiers fighting, two brandishing swords, and one a pistol. To their right, two smaler horsemen and two footmen are show moving into the distance. The saucer is decorated with a back view of a soldier mounted on horseback, with his shield slung across his back, who has stopped to talk to a girl seated on the ground to the right. On either side there are stunted trees and buildings. A gold band encircles the rims of both pieces.</value>
