    <value>hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels, and gilt</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, glazed, and painted in blue, green, yellow, flesh-pink, pale and dark brown, grey, and black enamels, and lightly gilt. The unglazed underside has a circular ventilation hold near the back. The approximatelycircular low mound base is decoratied on its top with three groups of applied green leaves and at the front with a blue and yellow flower. At the back there is a square structure of redish-brown bricks which supports the figure. The cook stands on his left foot with his right leg extended to his right side. In his left hand he holds a large dish with a gold edge, containing a raised pie containing mushrooms, and in his right hand holds a mushroom (?). He has brown hair tied back in a black bag with a bow, delicately painted features, a white shirt and coat, black breeches with a gold buckle at the right knee, and black shoes with gold buckles. A gold-handled knife is tucked into an apron draped across his front</value>
