    <value>hard-paste porcelain, painted in enamels, and gilt. A pair with EC.35-1946</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, painted overglaze in blue, turquoise, green, yellow, flesh pink, puce, red, purple, brown, and black enamels, and gilded. The underside is glaze. The square base is decorated round the sides with scrolls and rococo 'frills' and is raised on four scrolled feet, all picked out in puce and gold. The top is decorated with polychrome floral sprays. On the viewer's left at the back there is a tall tree stump, dappled in pale green, pink, and brown, with Bacchus standing on his left leg with his right foot crossed over in front of it. He leans on the top of the tree stump on his right arm, and holds up a bunch of grapes to his open mouth in his left hand. He has short black hair, and is nude except for a vine wreath on his head and around his hips. Behind him, on the viewer's right, there is a faun with gold hooves and tiny horns, seated on a barrel, and holding a gold cup filled with wine in his right hand. The barrel is painted in polychrome with a harbour scene on either end, and sprays of flowers on its sides.</value>
