There are gilt metal mounts on the foot, cover and end of the spout which has a stopper attached by a safety chain to the knob. The teapot is decorated with panels of a phoenix flying above peonies on each side, separated by karakusa scrolls, a dentate border on the shoulder and a floral spray on the handle and spout.
