object type: Tortoise shell, gold, silver, turquoise, gilt metal and velvet; rectangular with serpentine sides and hinged flat lid and sprung button catch.  The etui is of tortoise shell inlaid on each of the four sides and top of the lid with a Rococo design of gold scrolls and silver birds and flowers, some set with a small turquoise or coral bead in the centre.  The gilt metal mounts and interior divider is engraved with scrolls and flowers.  The lid and cavities for the implements are lined in red velvet.  The etui would have contained five implements but only the white metal thimble, scissors and stiletoo remain.
