DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: The steel blade is straight, leaf-shaped and double edged. Three fullers run almost the full length of the blade. The hilt comprises a figure-8 guard with wings and langets with stylised lotus bud terminals, thin grip with a moulded waist towards the pommel, and a deep dish pommel with a chrysanthemum flower washer, medial dome and a pierced finial. The hilt is covered with black paint, the blade polished bright and deeply pitted from earlier corrosion.
