object type: The steel blade is single edged and forward curved with a flat back and a short section of ricasso. It is stamped XXX in imitation of European bladesmiths’ marks. The hilt is plain, of iron with short quillons ending in rounded terminals, long langets with large lotus bud terminals, a baluster-shaped grip, broad, flat dish pommel with a chrysanthemum flower washer, medial dome and a pierced finial. Attached to the lower quillon is a well-curved knucklebow with a stylised lion head finial. The blade is nicked and patinated, and the whole is polished bright. The blade is loose in the hilt.
