object type: The iron blade is crescent shaped with a convex centre, and forged with a narrow but solid socket for the haft with a transverse medial flange at the back. The haft is of wood, tapering above the blade to a blunt point where a top spike was originally fitted. The blade is pitted and extensively cracked where the iron is laminating
