At the forte the blade widens slightly into pierced wings, where there is some crude incised decoration. The hilt comprises a steel guard and knucklebow, and grip and pommel of wood. The guard is a narrow oval, with a finial at the top and a quite crude knucklebow ending in a turned-back lotus bud. The grip is bent, and formed of two pieces of wood riveted to the tang.
