Of steel, comprising a short round-section spike, a large knop with mouldings at either side round the centre where it is brazed, and a flaring socket with a dagged end and a seam running up one side decorated with numerous incised lines. There is a cog-like ring loose on the socket, which retains some of its original wooden haft which retains fragments of thick varnish or glue at the junction with the socket.
