To the junction of the two horns is riveted a small steel shield with four decorative copper alloy bosses decorated with spirals and petalled borders, and an applied copper alloy borderd decorated with punched circles. There are fragments of vermillion and viridian green on the horns. Part of the shiled border is missing, and the steel is pitted but polished bright.
