The edge is bordered in the outside by a series of brass rivets retaining a black leather lining band which originally retained the lining, now lost. At the lower edge at the wrist of the main plate are two hinged strap loops, one retaining a fragment of the original leather strap, and on the inner wrist plate the two decorative hinges and two buckles. The exterior is bordered with a very narrow band of floral scrolls in gold koftgari, and a and of calligraphic medallions separated by rosettes originally set with stones. The inscriptions unread, but Koranic.
