object type: Hilt for a talwar. The hilt is of iron, probably cast, with short quillons, broad langets with lotus bud terminals, a symmetrical grip of oval section swelling to the centre, a narrow dish pommel with a central dome and pierced finial. The surface is covered with lotus lowers in scrolling foliage in high relief, and silvered all over with a gilt ground. Much of the silver foil is lost
