  <description>
    <value>Formed of hide, circular and domed with a raised rim. Black in colour. There are four copper alloy bosses, shallow domes with fretted flanges, at the centre, retaining iron loops inside with straps and a square pad originally covered in green and red velvet, with a leather square at the centre, now very damaged. Above the bosses is a crescent and one of two smaller bosses, matching the functional bosses but decorative. All these retain traces of gilding. The surface is dirty but in good condition, with one big chip inside, and the whole thing is warped. At one edge two suspension holes are pierced</value>
