DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: Dish with dragon. Stoneware, thrown, shaped, incised, inlaid in black and white slip, and celadon glazed. The flat rim of this dish (chopsi) has eight indentations to simulate a floral shape and the sides are lobed correspondingly. On the rim is an incised classic scroll, in the cavetto are eight flower sprays inlaid in black and white slip, and in the centre two sketchy dragons in a double circle inlaid in white slip. On the outside are vertical incised lines emphasising the octafoil shape. The glaze has the typical jade colour of Koryo celadon, is evenly applied, and has a subtle gloss and no crackle. The base, which is almost flat, has traces of quartzite spur-marks.
