Stoneware, moulded, incised, inlaid in black and white slip, and celadon glazed. This trefoil-shaped box has a flat cover with bevelled edges. The top is outlined in black and white slip inlay and decorated with an inlaid peony spray. The sides of both box and cover are incised with scroll and key-fret borders. The jade-coloured glaze fully covers the piece, but has been wiped from the rims of both parts which were kept apart during firing by fire-clay spacers.
