  <description>
    <value>Bowl with chrysanthemums. Stoneware, thrown, inlaid in white slip, and punch'ong-glazed. The mouth of this shallow bowl is slightly inturned; the centre is recessed and the footring is thick. The decoration of the interior is arranged in three zones divided by parallel lines; the main zone is densely covered with chrysanthemum florets stamped in three or four rows between a band of stylised lotus petals and another of zigzag diaper. All the designs are filled in with white slip, the glaze is of opaque greyish-blue tone, and crackled. There are traces of four clay supports on the footring.</value>

      <note>
        <value>This bowl was probably made in the first half of the fifteenth century at a kiln in the Honam area (Cholla province). The shape of the chrysanthemum florets with their long petals points to a kiln in Cholla province; contemporary pieces from Kyongsang province show chrysanthemum florets with a larger centre and shorter petals (see Sekai Toji Zenshu, vol.19, 1980, pls.111-114 for similarly decorated vessels; p.228, fig.104 for sherds from Kyongsang province; and pl.250 for fragments from Cholla province).</value>
