    <value>Mother-of-pearl and gilt metal; unusually small, the shallow fig-shaped mother-of-pearl bowl has a broad rat-tail carved on the back.  It is pinned to a gilt metal narrow stem, which is engraved on the back with scrolls.  It terminates in a cast finial in the form of a scroll supporting the head of a Roman soldier.</value>
