object type: Mother-of-pearl and gilt metal spoon. The elongated oval mother-of-pearl bowl is pinned to a scrolled gilt metal handle.  On the front of the bowl, the handle is shaped and engraved to resemble an acanthus leaf with a scroll on either side.  The part of the handle behind the bowl is longer and arrow-shaped.  The slender stem terminates in three scrolls with a rat's tail running down the back of the handle.
