  <description>
    <value>Agate and steel with silver-gilt mounts; the knife has a near parallel steel blade which curves up towards the point and has a engraved band of zigzags along the flattened upper edge; the sloping cylindrical agate handle broadens towards the slightly domed terminal. The silver-gilt ferrules are embossed with a flower within a border of pellets. The fork (B) has two long steel tines and a handle which is similarly decorated to that of the knife. There are slight traces of gilding on both the knife and fork. The case (C) and its pull-off cover (D) are of pressed leather decorated with moulded and gilt borders and stamped lozenges and flowerheads.</value>
