Each side of the handle is set with a row of three engraved silver bosses, the lowest one probably depicts a pair of crossed swords, the central one depicts a stylised flower, and the upper one bears the coat-of-arms of the Elector of Saxony impaling another, on a ground of small silver piqué work circles. The volute terminal is capped with silver, which is engraved with a flower. The broad silver ferrule is engraved with a pattern of lines.
