The arch spandrels with turbaned male head amidst scrolling foliage. Silvered chapter ring with quarter hour divisions on the inner edge, a shaped silvered plaque inscribed ‘Windmills/LONDON' above VI and a mock pendulum in an aperture below XII. A silvered calendar ring in the arch and a Strike/Not Strike (N/S) on the edge of the dial at III. Original pierced blued steel hands. Movement: 8 day, rack striking movement, with original verge escapement replaced by an anchor but the engraved apron piece retained. Finely engraved back plate with the signature ‘Windmills London' in an oval reserve. Square topped bell. Case: Inverted bell-topped case, green japanning with gilt lattice decoration and reserves with raised chinoiserie designs. Gilt wooden frets in door spandrels and upper side openings, but now has glass in side windows. Brass acorn finials and decorative lifting handle.
