    <value>Dial: 6 inch diameter enamel dial with white ground and blue arabic numerals in circular reserves separated by symmetrical floral designs.  In the centre a sunburst design in blue and white on a gilt ground.  Blued steel spade hands.  A small square above the XII for regulating the pendulum and a similar square below the VI for starting the pendulum, the latter being a very rare feature.

Movement: French movement, with square plates, the back plate stamped &#x2018;GV3723.', the gong block stamped `F D' and the pendulu77m starting lever stamped &#x2018;E. Loubdelert. BTE S.G.O.G.'  Two trains, striking hours and ting-tang quarters on gongs. Brocot escapement and Brocot suspension.  Repair label inside back door:- &#x2018;Barraud &amp; Lunds / 49 Cornhill. / Set going 1880 / Cleaned February 1888 / etc'.

Case: Designed by Henry and Lewis F. Day and made by Howell &amp; James, the back marked `DEPOS&#xC9; /3723' with `kite' mark indicating that the design was regis&#xAC;tered on 22nd February, 1878.  Square ebonised case with panelled ends and a gallery round the top, with a removable superstructure in the form of a tiled roof.  The front inset with four rectangular ceramic panels with blue floral designs on a white ground.</value>
