The original silk suspension for the pendulum replaced with a Brocot type adjustable spring suspension on a new back cock. Case: Of late Louis XV design and representing the Rape of Europa. The almost symmetrical rococo ormolu base carries two ormolu figures, Cupid and attendant maid or nymph, and the bronze bull. The latter carries the restrained rococo ormolu clock surround which is surmounted by the figure of Europa. As the whole case is of very fine quality, although it is not signed, it could perhaps be attributed to Saint-Germain. object type: Table clock with 8 day circular movement.
