      <note>
        <value>This model was probably derived from a marble, bronze or plaster bull after the antique. The type was derived from a Roman bull from Ostia, in the Sala degli Animali of the Museo Pio Clementino in the Vatican, illustrated in Ennio Quirino Visconti's 'Museo Pio Clementino', vol. VII, 1809, pl. XXXI, 2. The pottery model is very close in size to an 18th century bronze bull in the Ashmolean Museum, acquired in Genoa in 1848 by C.D.E. Fortnum</value>
