object type: Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted underglaze in three shades of blue, overglaze in two shades of green, dark pink, apricot and red enamels, and gilded, in Imari style. The cup is of London shape. The saucer is circular with deep sloping sides, and stands on a footring. The exterior of the cup and the iis painted with an Oriental landscape with buildings, flowering plants, and a tree with gold leaves, beside which is an elephant facing towards the viewer. The inside has a gold border comprising a wavy line and vertical strokes with a horizontal gold band below. There are gold bands round the rim, foot, and back of the handle. The saucer is decorated with a version of the same Oriental landscape surrounded by the same border pattern, and has gold band on the rim.
