DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: Collar, for field use. Formed of a single plate front and rear, each of which is flanged upwards at the neck-opening where it has a plain inward turn. The lower edge of the rear plate is slightly concave with strongly rounded corners.  The lower edge of the front plate is strongly convex.  The lower edges of both plates have file-roped partial inward turns.  The front and rear plates are joined by a modern round-headed rivet at the left shoulder, and fastened by a modern turning-pin and keyhole slot at the right shoulder.  Attached by a single, modern, flat-headed rivet at either side of the neck of the rear plate is a single-ended iron buckle for the suspension of the pauldrons.  The left buckle has never possessed a tongue, and the right buckle has had its tongue cut off.  Each buckle is fitted with a modern leather strap. Both the front and the rear plates are decorated with three radiating bands of triple incised lines, now much worn. Part of the composite half armour HEN.M.16A-F-1933.
