The collar is formed of a single plate front and rear, each of which is flanged upwards at the neck- opening. The rear plate has a slight convex lower edge with strongly-rounded outer corners, while the medially-ridged front plate curves down at each side to a strongly-rounded central. Riveted at each side of the rear plate, just below the flange of the neck-opening, is a buff leather strap for the suspension of pauldrons. The front and rear plates are connected to one another at the left side by a modern round-headed rivet of brass, and fastened at the right side by a modern mushroom-shaped stud and a later-enlarged keyhole slot. The neck-opening of both plates and the lower edge of the front plate have plain inward turns. The turns of the front plate are accompanied by decorative bands formed in each case of four incised lines. The front plate lacks its lining-rivets and shows a crack in the left side of the flange of its neck-opening.
