DESCRIPTIVE DATA
----------------
object type: Backplate for use by a pikeman. Formed in one piece with a wide neck-opening and a narrow waist-flange. The neck-openings, the arm openings and the waist-flange all have plain inward turns. The turns at the neck-openings and the arm-openings are bordered by single incised lines. The backplate is fitted with modern buff-leather shoulder-straps and a waist-belt. The shoulder straps terminate in original pierced hasps and are secured beneath scales that are probably also original. The left strap of the waist-belt terminates in a modern, single-ended, tongued iron buckle. The right side of the waist-flange is pierced with a large hole.
