object type: A broken section of a copper-alloy object. It may have been a tool, perhaps tweezers as suggested by the flattened and straight terminal. Alternatively, it may be a looped pin broken where it would have curved upwards to form a loop. If it is a ring-pin then it conforms to the plain style seen in tenth and eleventh century contexts from Ireland. (cf Fanning, Viking age ringed pins from Dublin, pp. 59-67, fig. 3)
