    <value>Codpiece, for infantry use. Made from a single piece of metal of sub-cylindrical form that expands slightly to its domed front end and is flanged outwards at its rear.  The upper edge of the flange is pierced with a suspension-hole.  The lower edge of the flange curves backwards to a rounded point.
The codpiece is decorated medially with an etched band of arabesques on a blackened ground.</value>
