DESCRIPTIVE DATA

object type: White silk tabby weave, polychrome silk embroidery.   The panel must have been worked for the export market, possibly for a woman's dress and probably to a European design, hence the inclusion of the honeysuckle and the meandering border of rosehips and the overall stiffness of the composition.   The stitching technique is entirely Chinese although it may have been made in Macao or the Philippines.
