The cup is of ‘Queen Anne’ shape with a harp-shaped handle (i.e. four sided with deep sloping sides, incurved flutes between them, standing on a circular footring). The saucer is four sided with incurved fluted corners, standing on a circular footring. The cup is decorated with two panels painted respectively with a duck and another sea bird, and with two panels with a claret ground overlaid by a gold lozenge-shaped motif with turquoise jewels on the corners suspended from a bow with tails extending to right and left which support a swag of flowers and foliage all in slightly raised gold. Round the lowest part of the cup there is gold scale pattern. There is a gold band round the footring and the top edge, and vertical lines on the fluting between the sides. The handle is gilding on the outside.
