The cup is decorated with two panels painted respectively with a duck and another sea bird, and with two panels with a claret ground overlaid by a gold lozenge-shaped motif with turquoise jewels on the corners suspended from a bow with tails extending to right and left which support a swag of flowers and foliage all in slightly raised gold. Round the lowest part of the cup there is gold scale pattern. There is a gold band round the footring and the top edge, and vertical lines on the fluting between the sides.
