  <description>
    <value>Bone china, decorated with a reddish-brown ground, reserves painted in polychrome enamels, and gilding. The cup is of Cottage shape. The saucer is circular with curved sides and central depression, standing on a footring. Above the carination the cup has a reddish-brown ground with on the drinker&#x2019;s side a rectangular reserve with cut corners and gold frame enclosing a landscape with a ruin beside a lake with distant mountains. On either side there are reserved flowerheads, buds, leaves outlined in gold (two flowers on right and three on left). On the other side there is a large reserved flower with gold foliage and buds, flanked by smaller reserved floral sprigs with gold foliage. There are gold bands round the rim, the carination, and the foot, and down the sides of the handle. Inside there is one large gilt floral spray and two different sprigs. The inside of the saucer is decorated with a gold floral spray in a circular central reserve, a red-brown ground with one reserve framed in gold enclosing a different landscape with a ruin on an island and distant mountains, flanked by floral motifs similar to those on the cup, and further away by a smaller sprig. On the opposite side there are two large floral sprays flanking a smaller sprig. A gold band encircles the edge.</value>
