object type: Complex technique of 'piecing' or 'patchwork' sometimes called 'inlaid' work.   Wool;  blue, red and cream;  cut and 'inlaid' to form the dominant 'boteh' (pine cone) motif with a curvilinear frame including two cartouches in the top corners with embroidered Arabic inscription.   Also flowering stems and birds, much done in chain stitch with chief inlaid elements outlined with laid and couched cord.   Mounted on modern pinkish/yellow silk.
