The cup is of ‘Queen Anne’ shape with a harp-shaped handle (i.e. four sided with deep sloping sides, incurved flutes between them, standing on a circular footring). The saucer is four sided with incurved fluted corners, standing on a circular footring. The lower part of the cup is decoratd with gold scale pattern. Above this it has a claret ground with on two sides shaped reserves framed by raised gold flowers and foliage enclosing butterflies hovering over flowers in polychrome enamels. The other two sides have gold floral sprigs and single dots and groups of three dots scattered over the ground. There are told bands round the rim and foot and the handles is gilt overall.
