The back was probably added to the watch in the 19th century. This panel obstructs the view of the water wheel which works whenever the music is played. This large and rare coach watch plays two different tunes: 'Song' and 'Dance' selected via the left dial. The chosen tune can be played automatically at 3, 6, 9 or 12 o'clock by selecting 'Chime' on the right dial, or on demand by depressing the push-piece at the top of the watch. Whenever the music is played, an automated scene of a water-mill pond is activated at the back of the watch, in which a water-wheel rotates and five boats pass by in succession.referenceterm-106779adlib-term-106779f0706fcd-d94c-3987-bcb5-f7f794332b6a18th Century, Latereferenceterm-107437adlib-term-10743796f4b0d1-fc11-39ff-ae91-1b23d888d479George IIIreferenceterm-106216adlib-term-106216825b8379-ec94-388e-9a59-624e40c090d0literalEnglandEnglandcountryLondonreferencemedia-192687adlib-media-19268761f3a147-958c-388e-9737-d4153da9f4c8jpegaa/aa31/M_P_36_1913_1_201406_kly25_mas.jpg1heightpixels1024widthpixels88116162572206701imagejpegaa/aa31/mid_M_P_36_1913_1_201406_kly25_mas.jpg1heightpixels581widthpixels50016162572206701imagejpegaa/aa31/M_P_36_1913_1_201406_kly25_mas.jpg1heightpixels1024widthpixels88116162572206701imagejpegaa/aa31/preview_M_P_36_1913_1_201406_kly25_mas.jpg1heightpixels291widthpixels25016162572206701image0media
