    <value>soft-paste porcelain painted underglaze in blue</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Soft-paste porcelain moulded and painted in blue under lead-glaze. Shell-shaped with a wavy rim, and scrolled handle, standing on an oval foot which is concave underneath. The sides are fluted like those of a shell and there is a scallop shell and a pair of entwined dolphins in relief under the upward-tilting lip. The ear-shaped handle has a projecting thumpiece at the top and a C curve at its lower end. The outlines of the shell on the sides, and the shell below the lip are picked out in blue, as are the edges at the top. A trefoil leaf is painted on each side of the handle,. The foot is decorated with a series of striped arches rising from a blue band round the edge. The outside of the handle has a star at the top, and a stylized foliage spray down the back. Inside the lip there is a border of trellis and a formal plant motif, and on the bottom of the interior, a stem with leaves.</value>
