object type: Off-white stoneware, slip-cast with integral relief decoration, an applied handle, and salt-glaze.  The cup is of narrow bell-shape and stands on a circular footrim. The loop handle is reeded and has a kick at the lower end. The sides are decorated with eight vertical panels with allegorical motifs one above the other in each panel.  Beginning on the right of the handle: an arabesque with above, a double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire; a tea kettle beside a hearth, and two people seated at a table on which is a giant teapot with a drape above it;  two figures on either side of a box or table, a nude figure carrying a globe, and a shield charged with three animals;  two figures on either side of a heart, a monster, and a profile head in a medallion; a swimming swan, Cupid riding a lion, and the Fox and the Stork; a plant pot, a unicorn and a putto amidst foliage;  fruit piled on a dish, a huntsman holding a staff accompanied by a hound, and a bird perching in a tree; a game bird or peacock, a stag with a coat-of-arms above. There is a plain band below the rim.
