Pierced and chased slide plate, silver regulation dial with radial Arabic figures 5 to 30. Fusee iron post with lyre shaped end. Case bolt in brass edge, nib through dial. Potance replaced, now supports escapement. Counter-potance cut off at underside of top plate. Plain repeating barrel screwed to top plate. Pillar plate with four turned pillars having bottom band and tapered body. Third wheel recessed. Going fusee and chain, top lip on barrel. Tangent set-up under barrel. 90 degree (?) English lever escapement, converted from verge. Jewelled pin in roller. Train planted clockwise. Runners, five pinions, governed by depthing pinion, planted anti-clockwise. Polished hour and quarter hammers planted clockwise. REPEATING MECHANISM: 1/2 and 1/4 repeating work; chain repeating rack. All-or-nothing level, moved by lever on repeating rack. Hour snail and star wheel on pin. All repeating work with grained finish. Pulse piece missing. BRASS EDGE: With joint, bayonet fitted to pillar plate, two screws. Scratch marks, next to top plate 'AJS 7.98', scratched under dial '15987' and 'Mr Demlow' above 'B/u' DIAL: White enamel on copper, three feet. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures, arched minute ring, radial Roman chapters, inner ring. Counter enamel inscribed, in sepia, '10 pm' and 'Eteal'. HANDS: Gold Louis XV style. Minute hand pointer replaced. BELL: Scratched on back 'Dnny' and 'R', inside scratched '6.78', '543OR', 'S/-/-', '11.96S 4', '7.98' and 'B.O2' CAP: Oval table, flat blued steel catch, 'S' and 'f' scratched at side of regulator opening. Inside scratched '8589' and '5887.g'. INNER CASE: Gold. Body pierced and engraved, engraved scene around pendant and '15987', also mask at 6 o'clock and bird across back. Inside with two makers mark, incuse 'PG' under a fish (head left) stamped '15987'. Scratched '11.96.5.' Plain bezel. Cylindrical pendant, cheese top, stirrup bow. OUTER CASE (A): Gold, repousse with enamelled back. Body repousse and pierced sides, back painted polychrome enamel plaque of Alexander with the family of Darius, signed 'S & G' in black, bottom right. Scratched on back, on opening flat '185 CV/-/-.'
