MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Tho: Gordon EDINBVRGH 677'. Balance cock with pierced and engraved table having ears, pelican in centre and head engraved on neck, foot pierced and engraved. Steel balance. Pierced and engraved slide plate with free form edge, large silver regulation dial with Arabic figure 1 to 6. Pierced fusee iron post. Potance, with short foot, riveted to plate. Counter-potance with turned foot riveted to plate. Case bolt with flat decorated foot, nib through dial. Pillar plate with four Egyptian pillars, cushion tops. Fusee and chain, tangent set-up under barrel. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise. BRASS EDGE: Dial recessed, ringed lines around recess. DIAL: Silver, 5 minute cushions with radial Arabic 5 minute figure, ladder minute ring, small arrows at 5 minutes, radial Roman chapters with diamond shaped half hour marks, ladder half hour ring, small arrows at hours. Centre silver, pierced with lion and unicorn rampant, cartouche top and bottom engraved 'Gordon' at top and 'Edinburgh' at bottom. Blued steel disc behind. HANDS: Plain copper minute, probably a replacement. Hour missing. INNER CASE: Plain silver gilt. Inside with indistinct maker's mark under coronet. Scratched '416/03' and '12994'. Spherical topped pendant with simple ring bow. Black ribbon and key. Plain split bezel. OUTER CASE (A): Plain, gilt silver, square ended hinge. Inside with maker's mark an incuse 'TI' under coronet. WACH PAPER (B): Light pink printed in black 'H.Ellis / WATCH & CLOCK / Maker / 23 Pascod Street / Windsor' and around edge 'CLOCKS WOUND BY THE YEAR' at top and 'JEWELLERY NEATLY REPAIRED' at bottom.
