IDENTIFIERS ----------- id: 207308 accession number: PW.39-1923 DATE AUDIT ---------- created: Thursday 10 December 2015 updated: Wednesday 28 March 2018 DESCRIPTIVE DATA ---------------- object type: Thin verge watch in gilt case MOVEMENT: Full plate movement, un-signed, cuvette engraved 'M Hunot' and 'LONDON'. Balance cock, segment table with cut away centre, one arm engraved with a snail, the other a hare. Regulation sector scale engraved on neck with ends marked 'S' and 'F'. Blued steel end piece with diamond end stone, regulator fitted to central boss and overlapped by two end piece screws. Foot engraved, curved from neck and straight sides, pointed end, hand set and winding holes through foot. Polished steel balance. Top plate has an engraved border and rings under balance. Turned fusee iron post. Potance screwed, and rectangular-counter potance riveted to plate, two tapped rectangular blocks to secure brass edge. Pillar plate with four turned pillars, ringed at ends. Centre wheel recessed, third wheel bar. Pillar plate tapered towards edge (to take curve of dial). Fusee and chain with set-up click under dial, one lip on barrel. Verge escapement. Train planted clockwise. Great efforts have obviously been made, in planning the movement, to get it as flat as possible. DIAL: White enamel convex on copper, two feet. Diamond shaped quarter marks, ladder minute ring, radial Roman chapters. BRASS EDGE: With cuvette, with movement fitting into centre, from the dial side, and fixed to movement by two horizontal screws. Dial feet fit through flat casing diameter, whole then fits into case from back and secured by four turn screws. Casing diameter flat and top flat engraved. Hinged cuvette, back engraved 'M Hunot' above 'LONDON' all surrounded by engraved decoration. Two hands engraved from hand set hole and horse in harness pulling from winding hole, also 'No 471' engraved. HANDS: Missing, and no provision has been made for a seconds hand.
