Small framed miniature surrounded by partial bar border with vine-leaves and bird grotesque terminal: fol. 83r Standing saints on gold ground with incised diaper pattern, from left to right: St Marcellus of Paris, subduing a dragon, facing St Genevieve, threatened by a demon, holding a candle lit by angel; St Peter facing St Paul; St John the Baptist facing the Crucifixion with Virgin Mary and St John the Evangelist; a tonsured figure wearing an alb kneeling in the margin on the border bar below the Crucifixion.
Addition VI, c.1320-1330
Historiated initial with three-sided foliate bar border extension: fol. 83v Canon Prayer of the Mass, [T, 4 ll.] Deacon, Subdeacon and Priest at prayer.

Initials [3-4 ll.] with foliate coil or large stylised leaf infill in blue, rose, white, and orange on gold and coloured grounds, some with dragon and animal motifs (e.g. fol. 99v), and a few with extensions into the margins (e.g. fols. 67r, 91r, 103v, 123r, 149v), for collects, secrets and postcommunions; red and blue initials [2 ll.] with pen flourishing, foliate and floral infill in colour wash, and surrounds in both colours for the other collects, secrets and postcommunions (e.g. fol. 20v); red and blue one-line initials with blue and red pen flourishing respectively for lesser text divisions.

Initials [4 ll.] filled with foliate and dragon motifs in blue, rose, white, and orange on gold and coloured grounds, extending into two-sided bar borders containing dragon and grotesque hybrid motifs (e.g. fols. 69r, 72r, 78r) for the Prefaces and Mass of St Louis; red and blue initials [2 ll.] with pen flourishing in both colours for collects, secrets and postcommunions.

It is unclear whether these proofs of ownership predate the manuscript’s division into two portions in the eighteenth or nineteenth century, designated below as A and B. They were acquired separately by Sidney Cockerell in 1922 and bound together by his brother, Douglas Cockerell. The provenance and folio numbers of the two sections are described by Cockerell in an extended note signed 14 December 1922 (fol. i recto).
