  <description>
    <value>Soft-paste porcelain (steatitic), painted overglaze in blue, green, turquoise, puce, brownish-red, and black enamels and gilt. The globular pot stands on a footring, and has a short cylindrical neck, a slightly curved, upward-tilting spout, and a D-shaped handle. There are five holes behind the spout to emit the tea. The domed cover has a ventilation hole and a cone-shaped knob. On both sides of the pot there is a shaped oval panel with a gold edge. One is decorated with the Oriental Staghunt pattern, and the other with two Chinamen conversing in a garden with a building, and birds flying overhead. Round the shoulder there is a border of gold lappets. The cover is decorated with a landscape within a scalloped outline, and round the edge has gold lapets. The knob has red-brown strokes on its summit.</value>

      <note>
        <value>The Stag Hunt pattern was derived from Chinese famille rose export porcelain of the mid 18th century, on which it was combined with bianco-sopra-bianco (white on white) decoration. It was copied by several English porcelain factories, including Worcester , Derby, Lowestoft, and Chaffers and Gilbody in Liverpool. It has been suggested that the pattern on Worcester porcelain may have been executed in the decorating workshop of James Giles in London.</value>
