  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Soft-paste porcelain (steatitic), thrown with applied handle, spout and knob, transfer-printed onglaze in black, and painted in blue, green, yellow dark pink, brownish-red, and black enamels, and lightly gilt. The globular pot stands on a footring, and has a short cylindrical neck, a slightly curved, upward-tilting spout, and a D-shaped handle with a longitudinal ridge. There are five holes behind the spout to emit the tea. The low domed cover has a ventilation hole, and a knob in the shape of a flower on a stalk with two leaves. The underside of its rim, and outside of the flange which fits inside the neck of the pot, are unglazed. Both sides of the exterior are decorated with the same Chinese scene. On the right, a woman stands behind a man seated beside a table on which is a vase of flowers. To the left of the table there is a long-legged stand supporting a bowl . A woman accompanied by a little boy carries a tray bearing two cups towards the couple on the right, and on the far left another woman approaches carrying a screen fan. Under the spout there is a floral spray, and round the shoulder a border comprising a red line, a scalloped line and dots. On the outside of the handle there are two red trefoil leaves and five dots. The cover is decorated with the man seated beside the table, and the woman carrying a tray, surrounded by a border to match the pot. The flower knob has red-tipped petals, a yellow centre, and its leaves are green.</value>
